Siddiq Azani was born on September 22nd 1987 in Klang, Selangor. He is now a 3rd year law student and wishes to become an advocate and solicitor someday after he completes his degree in law. He joins UMNO in 2006 and now is a current AJK Pemuda UMNO for Kanchong Darat Jalan Bambu branch. Has been blogging since 2007, Siddiq finds that blogging is a new power assumed to the people in raising their voices and to fight for their rights. Blogging can makes you happy and sad, but the most important thing is people read what you have said. I write what I want to say and this is my blog, called Writtenbyhim. Welcome to my blog.

I’m all malay, am I not truly Malaysian?
(In respond to Noktahhitam’s view)
I consider Dr. Siddiq is one of the mere-truly Malaysians who are brought up in Malaysia with both genetic component (biologically) and phenotypic component(physically or environmetally). He will have unbiased views if compared to you who is all Malay and me who is all chinese. For him, if this country is to be in racial war (i said IF), the one who suffers the most will be Dr. Siddiq and the rest of the truely Malaysians because they could neither choose any side (neither malay nor chinese).
NoktahHitam, it is easy for you and me to say that we are Truely Malaysian. We grew in Malaysia for years and we are socially, culturally, and environmentally shaped into Malaysian but our genetic component still composed of purely single race gene. To decide who is more truly Malaysian, we must be composed of all the genes when Malaysia is borned, i.e. Malay,Chinese,Indian,Aborigines of Malaya,Sabah and Sarawak bumiputera. So, we are not as truly Malaysian as Dr. Siddiq unless we have our greatgrandfather who is Malay,Greatgrandmother who is Chinese,Grandfather who is Indian, Grandmother who is Orang asli, Father who is Sabahan bumiputera, mother who is Sarawakian Bumiputera.
Please do give a good arguement if any readers do not agree my thinking. Thanks and hope our rakyat can live in peace with each other who are still having delusion that they are Pure Malaysian.
A true Malaysian is one who has the heart and mind of a Malaysian. We can be a Malay, Indian, Chinese, Kadazan, Iban and what not, but we must subscribe to Malaysian identity.
The next question is, can we call ourselves true Malaysian? The answer is a definite NO.What we have is a CACAMERBA (to borrow What Tun Mahathir said) identity.
We cannot call ourselves Malaysian, and we will never have a true Malaysian Identity so long as each and every citizen think along communal line. The education system that we have now is dividing and separating the various ethnic groups further and further.
We can start to cultivate a true Malaysian Identity by having only one type of school – i.e National Primary and Secondary school.Lets nurture these future generation of Malaysia by ensuring that they are not divided from the very early stage of their school life.Let them have a common denomination so that they will think themselves as a Malaysia, not a Malay, Chinese, Indian or anything else.
The big question is, are the so called champions of each race will agree to this? Are they willing to sacrifice for the sake of Malaysia and not for their individual ethnic group?

I totally agree with Samat. The education system plays a big role in the country’s unity. School is where every citizen of this country will be meld into a true Malaysian.
And I would strongly suggest that our education system has to be changed. There shouldn’t be any Sek.(Jenis)Kebangsaan. It should be just National Primary/Secondary School where all of us should learn in one main language.
We could just copy our neighbour’s (Singapore) educatin systems. Mother tongue should be an optional subject to every race in the country.
The leaders have to figure out a way to convince the champions of other races. The solution should be fair to all races in order for them to agree to it.
My suggestion would be:
1) Only one type of school in the country which is sekolah kebangsaan.
2) All the subjects to be strictly conducted in English since that’s the international language. (Primary Language: English)
3) Since we are all Malaysians, Bahasa Melayu/Malaysia should be a compulsary language for all of us.(Secondary Language: Bahasa Malaysia)
4) Other languages such as Chinese, Tamil Spanish, French etc should be an OPTIONAL.
5) All school MUST have proper facilities for atleast Chinese and Tamil languages.
By implementing such a system I believe all the races will grow up with the same mentality, in the same environment, with the same “slang”. They will be able to communicate with each other very well(not like now where those from chinese school cannot communicate with the malays and tamils and those from tamil school prefers to be with the indians and malays that can’t speak english prefers to be around with the malay speaking crowd).

Dear sid,
