Najib Says Goodbye To His Daddy’s Policy

“In the not-too-distant future, we will see all the elements of the New Economic Policy being replaced. It’s a huge challenge, there must be this political will and desire to change within Umno. I don’t think we can expect people to look at us in more favourable terms unless we change, unless we rectify our weaknesses.”

New Economic Policy was founded by our second Prime Minister, the late tun Abdul Razak, who was Najib’s father. The notion of such policy is to help the Malays and Bumiputras to compete with other races, in term of economic and businesses. But until today, the 30% of equity possession is still on blind papers, undesolved.

In May 1969, there was a riot happened in state of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. It is believed that the economic instability was one of the reason why such riot took place. The Malays were being left out, and the economy was controlled by the Chinese. In order to overcome this situation, Tun Razak has decided to form Majlis Gerakan Ekonomi Negara ( MAGERAN ), to re-structure the national unity. The NEP also was introduced to stabilize the pro-founding resources, and to allocate it fairly to the Malays and other races, who wanted to get involved in businesses.

But nevertheless, the NEP have reach its target in promoting the middle class Malays and Bumiputras, assist them in so many sectors and fields. A family now be able to buy a car, send their kids to schools, buy them a complete package of learning stuff. They now can buy houses, and start small businesses, in order to support themselves.

Now its time to say goodbye to this policy. The Malays now are better living. It is time to help other races as well. We also have poor Chinese and Indian family. Why such policy could not be made to help them? That is why I always remind my readers, especially the Malays, to prepare themselves in facing such radical abolishment. We have to accept the fact that we are now a 51 years of Malaysia.

The new NEP must look into poor people as a whole, without identifying its race or religion background. This new policy must undergo all transparent and integritial process to ensure the allocation of resources reach its target. Stop discriminating people, and all of the private sectors must help the government to build up the pillar to this policy together hand in hand. The government alone will never reach the target. The recent statistic shows that 3.8% of Malaysian people are still below the poverty level. Where by majority of the Malaysian people come from middle-class standard, which obtain RM 1,000 – RM 4,000 per month for every household. These are the people that need government’s attention very much, despite the 3.8% group of people.

It is now a time to help our friends. The Malay, Chinese and Indian must look themselves as one soley entity, as Malaysian people. Believe in our healthy competition, and put our economic stability as the highest priority ahead of everything.

There is similarity between Najib and his father Tun Abdul Razak – they become the Prime Minister to correct the political and social instability in the country. Bravo father and son. And we put our trust on you, the next Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
